Costume Ink

Costume Ink is founded by Sarah, AKA The Painted Lady, New Jersey's leading Jagua Artist. Sarah has been a painter, a tattoo artist, and a logo designer for over 20yrs. She's currently an English teacher, but her summer job is doing henna on the Seaside Heights boardwalk. She loved it so much she decided to go freelance! Costume Ink uses only 100% organic, all natural jagua, with no harsh additives, from Fresh Jagua©, a fair trade certified company. Their company was recently featured on The Met Gala's red carpet -- jagua accessories are trending! Additionally, Fresh Jagua has featured Sarah's work on their Instagram three times! Jagua is a berry from South America, it's traditionally used for food, juice, fabric dye and body art. Like henna, jagua lasts 2-3 weeks. Unlike henna, jagua only has to be worn for 1hr before removal, and leaves a dark blue-black stain. So, it works on all skin tones, and looks like a real tattoo. Due to this faux finish, people love to use it to test drive their next tattoo ideas. Helping people curate their next tattoo is one of Sarah's favorite parts of the job. However, giving people wild tattoos they would never get in real life can be tons of fun too! Sarah loves getting to interact with her clients and giving them a memorable experience no matter what they get. She says she's just here to touch lives, one tattoo at a time.
